Goodbye DC............

Today our furniture gets packed up and sent off to long term storage for two years.  After that we begin our two week nomadic journey up the East Coast saying good bye to friends and family before flying off to Tirana Albania for two years.

It feels unreal that we are finally at this point.  It was over two years ago that I first told Glenn we should do "something different" for his next set of orders.  We were in Norfolk at the time. We were both feeling frustrated with our inability to conceive.  I was holding down the home front, trying to keep the quirky house in one piece, and toiling away with the City while feeling unfulfilled and restless.  Glenn was half a world away, deployed as the Mini-Boss on the USS Theodore Roosevelt.  That one phone call set all of this in motion.

Fast forward two years.  In that time we've conceived,  sat vigil for 11 weeks in two NICUs  in two states, completed renovations on our Norfolk house, moved to DC to learn Albanian and the fine art of diplomacy, and placed our renovated house on the market.  Our miracle baby is now an active 18 month old and we will finally close on our Norfolk house later this month.   We've met amazing people during our time here and had the opportunity to reconnect with old friends.

The past two years have been a roller coaster ride.  Its been simultaneously exciting, exhausting, and frustrating.  We're excited about what the future holds and we know that as with everything else in the Navy, it is just a short stepping stone in time.  By the time we unpack and settle in we will need to start thinking about the next move!  There is never a dull moment and I invite all of our friends and family to share this adventure with us.
